Episode 002 – Personal Boundaries Are a Myth

Chaos continues on March 03, 2026. HR has been notified.

Lore's walk through the space station spirals into a series of escalating disasters. A public service announcement reminds travelers to report sentient robots — foreshadowing future problems involving Sprite, SlingerBot, and NurseBot. A holocall from Lore's mother becomes unbearable when Grandma joins in. Two slug porters break into a fight nearby. Captain Zaw, still fleeing his wedding party, comes face-to-face with a bear-sized weevil. Yes — a weevil the size of a bear.

Everything overlaps. Nothing resolves. Everyone is uncomfortable.

Welcome to Deep Space Degenerates — where personal boundaries are a myth and chaos is standard operating procedure.

Superman '78 & Batman '89

Superman '78 & Batman '89

Double-Feature at United Palace Theater
Sunday, Feb. 22nd, Upper West Side, Manhattan

What happens when two legends of justice share the same screen? On February 22 (the 96th anniversary of our opening day), Movies at the Palace presents a double-feature showdown of Superman (1978) and Batman (1989) — two iconic films that redefined the modern superhero and inspired generations to find the courage within. As part of our Season of Courage, this screening explores what it means to stand up for others—whether it's Superman's unwavering faith in humanity or Batman's fearless fight for a city lost to corruption. Together, these timeless stories remind us that courage takes many forms: compassion, conviction, and the choice to act when others cannot.

A Fire Upon the Deep - Vernor Vinge

Widely regarded among science fiction readers and critics as one of the standout space opera novels of its era, A Fire Upon the Deep has been on my radar for a while but hasn't made it to our survey. I was glad to see it immediately selected by membership. It's especially touted in hard sci-fi circles, so it will be a good follow-up after a more fantasy-leaning novel in Black Sun.

More About the Book:
Much of A Fire Upon the Deep's reputation comes from its innovative world building and unique alien culture. Vinge is generally praised for his writing chops and for being able to balance the concept and the details. As reported in this interesting Wired article, the novel "...juggles dozens of characters and plot lines without ever becoming confusing. Science fiction author Abby Goldsmith [says] '...plotwise it's stunning...the work shows. The amount of time and effort he put into thinking it through, I really admire that.'" All this said, I've heard that it can be a slow start for some readers and a hill to climb at the beginning. But once it gets going, it's hard to put down. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this one!To join a Book Club meeting, all you will need is YOURSELF. If you haven't had a chance to finish the book, we still would love for you to join us in the discussion.

Cyber Club

INTRODUCING CYBER CLUB!
A Digital Community For Independent Film

Brooklyn SciFi and the team at Cyber-NY are working on something new. We're building an independent network for film professionals to share and monetize their work while connecting with fans. Our hope is to create a community with a year-round presence that encourages collaboration and the development of an independent streaming platform.

We're looking for intrepid filmmakers to join our beta for free by creating an account profile and uploading several films they're okay with sharing. We won't make your work public without prior consent, and our admin tools allow for self-management and deletion of videos.

We hope you'll join us on this journey as we navigate the changing landscape of art house cinema and independent film. Please sign up for our private beta if you're interested, or reply to this email with questions.
