Brooklyn SciFi Season Seven Launches October 5th - 11th

The Brooklyn SciFi universe is bursting at the seams this month as season seven approaches! We'll announce this year's film selections on September 1st as event tickets go on sale in early September.

This month's Invadr Newsletter highlights several upcoming events in NYC and beyond, including a theatrical premiere of the SciFi feature Chronovisor at Film at Lincoln Center on September 4th, with a filmmaker Q&A. Proud Generations presents Celebrating 60 Years of Star Trek, a free Trekkie event on September 19th at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center in Long Island City, Queens. Filmshow will host its premier film and performance event at Rollin Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on October 3rd. And we have the latest online events with the next episode of Deep Space Degenerates dropping on August 25th, and the SciFi Book Club's next online meet-up on September 27th.

CHRONOVISOR

Theatrical Premiere & Filmmaker Q&A
September 4, 5, and 6th, 2026 @ 7pm

Inspired by the true story of a "fake" invention, Kevin Walker and Jack Auen's Chronovisor follows a Columbia professor deep into a Borgesian labyrinth of textual clues pointing to a time-travel device rumored to have been suppressed by the Vatican.

While writing a monograph on historical theories of memory, Béatrice (Anne-Laure Sellier), a respected academic, becomes beguiled by the allegedly true story of the Chronovisor, an occult device said to reproduce visuals from any point in history on a TV screen. Her obsession with the mysterious machine drags her from her Upper East Side apartment through the depths of New York City's hidden libraries, to the edge of a breakthrough.

Filmshow is a live show that combines short films from local filmmakers and live experimental theater to create a glimpse into the underground scene of New York City. Brooklyn SciFi is excited to join Filmshow at their unique performance event on Saturday, October 3rd where attendees vote for their favorite film and enjoy live performances within an actual Brooklyn film lot. All happening in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the weekend before the Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival kicks off.

Cadets, young Earthlings, and their families are invited to begin their Starfleet journey with interactive adventures, exploration, and discovery - art making stations, kids cosplay and more!

Welcome aboard the Kalsarikännit
Episode Premiers August 25th

Deep Space Degenerates, the irreverent animated sci-fi comedy that has already surpassed 2 million views, returns August 25 with Episode 008. Lore has finally made it aboard the ship and is ready to begin her new career as its navigator. There's just one problem: her first assignment has absolutely nothing to do with navigation.

Before plotting a course, learning the ship, or doing anything remotely resembling actual space navigation, Lore has been assigned the most important job on the Kalsarikännit: cleaning off her desk. Not exactly the glamorous deep-space career she imagined.

As Lore begins settling into life aboard the galaxy's least competent cargo ship, she's about to discover that working in deep space comes with its own unique set of problems—and apparently, none of them are in the job description.

September's pick was just as popular as Blindsight on our survey. Our outer-space mystery series continues with our highest-voted classic in a while, Stanisław Lem's eponymous The Invincible is supposed to be a wild ride. As a reminder, we skip our October book each year to highlight the Brooklyn SciFi Film Festival. The BSFFF is back for its 7th installment, with films streaming online and screening in person throughout the week. We'll share more information about the different events and ways to participate in September. I hope you'll join us!

More About the Book:
The Invincible is considered one of Stanisław Lem's defining novels and another true classic of science fiction. We're back aboard a starship this month, following a crew sent to investigate the disappearance of an expedition on a distant planet. It's a mystery wrapped in world-building, atmospheric exploration, and the kind of ideas that made Lem such an influential voice in the genre.

This year, we'll feature a Celebration of 60 Years of Star Trek, The Best of Brooklyn - an event shining a light on New York filmmakers at Film Noir in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and our Awards Night screening at Nitehawk Cinema in Prospect Park. INTRODUCING CYBER CLUB!
A Digital Community For Independent Film

Brooklyn SciFi and the team at Cyber-NY are working on something new. We're building an independent network for film professionals to share and monetize their work while connecting with fans. Our hope is to create a community with a year-round presence that encourages collaboration and the development of an independent streaming platform.

We're looking for intrepid filmmakers to join our beta for free by creating an account profile and uploading several films they're okay with sharing. We won't make your work public without prior consent, and our admin tools allow for self-management and deletion of videos.
